I heard back from the RE today about the money and the plan.
Let me first started off by telling you that I left a message yesterday with the woman in charge of billing asking her if they could work out a more cost-effective plan for us since insurance is no longer covering ANYTHING having to do with their services. Of course I cried on her machine telling her we really want a baby and don't want money to be a reason we have to wait any longer to be parents. I did not mean to cry!! Every time I told someone yesterday that the IUI didn't work and that AF arrived I would cry. It was rough. Anyway she called me this morning and told me she just got done speaking with the RE directly and that we will get 50% off all services!!!!!!!! I was shocked, I didn't expect for them to even consider it much less cut there cost in half. So needless to say I am thrilled about that!!!
As far as the plan goes, I am going to take clomid so that I will make a couple follies there by increasing my chances of pregnancy. I am not going to get ultrasounds this time though (b/c the RE will be on vacation)...instead I am going to use OPK's and call when I get an LH surge. This is the part that makes me nervous. I feel like I need to be more monitored than that, but that could just be me wanting to have control and need ALL the answers. There is one good thing about relying on the OPK's , I have found them to be reliable as far as matching up with my chart (except for that one time lol!!). When I get the surge I call the RE and go in that day or the next for the IUI.
I am not feeling 100% at ease probably b/c its different than what I did last time. I don't adapt well to change, its difficult especially when the ultimate goal here is SO important.
Do you find OPK's to be reliable?
To those of you who have had IUI's - did you get ultrasounds or use OPK's?
Please let me know what your experience has been, positive or negative.
Thanks

OMG!! YAY! I can't believe they are being so great with your financial arrangements. That's really nice of them.
GL this cycle!
I have been checking in with your blog becuase we had an IUI the same day last month...and like you I didn't get the BFP I was hoping for! We use digital OPK's - the clear blue easy brand so there is no error in my interpertation of the dark lines, etc. We usually get an ultrasound becuase I am nuts and need that extra reassurance, but you will be fine without it. This month we are taking a break and next month we will start the injectables with the IUI. I don't blog often, but feel free to e-mail me if you need support. kbrislawnatgmaildotcom Best of luck to you...I will check back and hope to hear good news soon!

50% off is WONDERFUL! yay!!! i can't be of help as far as the OPKs/IUIs goes... but i'll be praying they work for you this time!
Wow, how awesome about the 50%!
I actually used u/s and OPK for my IUI cycle and I found the OPK to be very accurate (it lined up with my u/s results)
Good luck this cycle!
50% off is amazing! So glad that won't be an issue for you! GL!
Wow that is great!!!! I did ultrasounds; but I am sure that they have confidence in this plan otherwise they would not have suggested it to you!
