We are a match

We got the call from the nurse on Tuesday morning.  I was having a really rough morning (lots of crying) so I was happy when I saw her number pop up on my phone.  She got right to the results....we are a 50% match.  I was SO relieved!!  She didn't have much information on what that means except that it IS treatable and we still have hope of conceiving a child together.  We had an appointment later that day to speak with the RE about our results and what to do next.  As soon as I got off the phone with the nurse I ran into the kitchen and put my arms around DH and started crying and told him we were only a 50% match.  We were jumping up and down, crying, and chanting "We're only 50 %...We're only 50%".   Then we busted out laughing that we are this excited to find something wrong.  We aren't necessarily happy that we are a match but we are a little relieved that they are starting to find reasons why we haven't gotten pregnant in over 2 years.

Being faced with the possibility that we could be a 100% match made us so thankful to still have the opportunity to conceive through ART.  We felt like a weight had been lifted off of us even though it isn't perfect news, but at least elevated killer cells and a 50% DQ match can be treated.

I will update later on our conversation with the RE when I have more time.....

You are officially in our boat....Our Dr. pretty much said only to x-fer one embryo at a time and that a 50% matching embryo can cause the already elevated NK cells to become more elevated and harder to bring down...for me that is why intralipid and prednisone alone did not help had to move towards IVIG and higher dose of prednisone...along with many other meds and treatments....I really recommend a Reproductive Immuniologist because I went to a Sirm and their tx alone would not have saved this baby when my Beta didnt double on the third test I was told I was going to miscarry again but Dr. Kwak my Reproductive Immuniologist did not give up increased some of my meds along with Progesterone and then everything was fine....I feel that Sirm has a basic understanding but that they dont treat people as Individuals instead everyone is on the same protocol and if its not working then instead of altering things or monitoring things more they just figure better luck next time....but it is understandable because their primary focus is getting people pregnant not keeping people pregnant and unlike most other RE's I do applaud them that they are even willing to help with the keeping pregnant part and for women with minor issues I think they do help but for women like me def only a Reproductive Immuniologist like Dr.Kwak in Chicago can really help without her I def know that I would not be where I am today....There are only 10 Reproductive Immuniologist in the USA and I beleive she is one of the best...she does accept out of town patients and insurance...just requires your first visit be at her office then after that can follow you from your area with your RE....She does manage all my meds except when I did the stims my RE did those...but E2, Progesterone, Lovenox, prednisone, and my IVIG I always followed her recommendations even when Sirm didnt think it was necessary but look where it has gotten me:)There is so much more I could tell you if you want more info on exact way things are run let me know....Have fun on your vacation I am so Jealous!!!!
